Why you ought to love the HD-DVD-Player...

360's HD-Player

"While it is unfortunate that HD DVD was discontinued, there is still enjoyment to be had from your Xbox 360 HD DVD Player. You can take this as an opportunity to build out your movie collection! There are around 500 HD DVD movies to choose from and many at great deals, so there is a fair amount of content for HD DVD on the market. It also is a terrific DVD player and it allows you to have game discs and movie discs, whether HD DVD or DVD, within the console at one time. The HD DVD player also adds two additional USB ports to your console." Said Microsoft Game Studio's Coporate Vice President Shane Kim in an inverview with GameDaily.

Toshiba buries HD-DVD format. The war is over.

The blu(e) laser prevails

The Japanese electronics Company Toshiba called the quits and retired from the format war. Sony and their Blu-Ray-Discs seized the crown of the next generation's disc-format. Even Microsoft, who where standing behind the HD-DVD-format, now might consider using the Blu-Rays for their XBOX-gaming-system. A bitter pill for customers who had bought the external HD-DVD-drive for their XBOX 360. Because most sellers don't take them back. Also a quite harsh decision: Even Toshiba refuses to repay their customers for the loss of their high-def-solution and won't take their stand-alone-HD-DVD-players back. Again waiting seemed to have its benefits.
