Shooter to Strategy? This is not quite what I have in mind when I think SRPG set in a space age(See Super Robot Wars). There is gobs of information to examine and extensive gameplay explanations but the usual polish I expect is not that. Pilots are random variables that are put with ships. The game tries to give some personality to the player through the log you keep between missions, even this seems barebones. Compared to most other SRPGs, this is just lackluster. R-Type Command for the PSP is not a poor game, however it does little to show off from the glut of SRPGs that have been pouring out lately.

I yearned to enjoy this game, I did.

Atlus continues to localize more Success titles with the latest being the sequel to the ninja dungeon crawling Izuna for the Nintendo DS. Expect to see this ship stateside July 22.
On a side note, Rondo of Swords should be in stores everywhere today. This SRPG, also on the Nintendo DS, brought to us by Success/Atlus USA has Izuna and Shino as well as one of my personal favorites, Cotton.
